Business Incubation

At the heart of the Uganda Industrial Research Institute’ aspiration to build Ugandans’ industrial capacity is the business incubation program in which Incubation has been identified as a powerful process of business enterprise development because  it creates the bridge between innovation and commercialization.

Business incubation is the process by which the institute supports start-up businesses in order to build entrepreneurship capability for self-sustenance. The program which enhances the chances of success and growth of Uganda’s Small and Medium Enterprises involves the provision of  facilities such as physical space, shared services/machinery, skills training and business legal advice to boost the operations of selected entrepreneurs, supporting them to maturation.

UIRI is currently assisting over 30 incubatees, some of whom are in-house or virtual incubatees. Virtual Incubation occurs when the incubated enterprises are supported in the communities and In-house Incubation is when the enterprise is supported at the institute.
