At 10 years of thriving in operations, the Uganda Industrial Research Institute is nolonger the backwater institute with debilitated infrastructure, but a blooming institute focused on strengthening the private sector, stimulating the process of realizing Uganda’s dream of Industrialization and empowering skilled Ugandans with employment opportunities.
UIRI employs 250 Ugandan citizens and offers more than 100 employments through her business incubation platform where they work as employees to over 100 incubatee entrepreneurs utilizing the institute’s facilities and others utilizing the support of UIRI’s technical expertise in product development and production.
In her 10th years of robust performance, the Institute has won global recognition with innovations in both the aesthetic, health, agriculture and production sectors, bringing to realization the cow horn and cow bone product lines, the aflatoxin detecting kit, the biomedical Electronically Controlled Gravity Feed infusion set, a pilot bioethanol production plant, a low cost pneumonia diagnostic kit; development of an electronically controlled solar dryer; and reverse engineering of an essential oils extraction technology among others.
